Moorfields at St Ann’s Hospital offer a streamlined, efficient cataract surgery pathway. Waiting times are usually within 4 weeks of your original referral.
Located in one building on the St Ann’s Hospital site in Tottenham, our theatres have been successfully accredited as an elective surgical hub.
We have a one stop cataract clinic where pre-operative tests, consultation, and pre-assessment are done during the same appointment, so that you can be given your operation date on the same day.
Our eye care unit is on ground level with no stairs, making it easily accessible for our patients.
There are two operating theatres, and all surgeries are performed under local anesthetic. Sedation is available if required and an anesthetist is always on-site during surgery.
A cataract consultant is always present and experienced ophthalmic trained nurses are also always present on site. The same Moorfields cataract expertise is provided at St Anns, as at the main site in City Road.
The discharge process is streamlined to avoid unnecessary delays.

Here are a few comments from patients who have been treated at Moorfields at St Ann’s.
Coming to St Ann’s was a breath of fresh air.
A delightful nurse looked after me with such kindness (despite being 30 minutes late after going to the wrong hospital). The ophthalmologist I saw was highly personable and was happy to answer my questions. This was a busy department, but I had better care at this appointment than I have experienced over 18 months in some other clinics.
Regarding the very good service provided by your team members. I would like to add, that their explanations to my questions, were very clear and good that I understood easily.
The consultants and nursing staff were extremely efficient and caring. I was very nervous and the whole team helped me to overcome that. I was very impressed.
