Three members of Moorfields’ staff represented the trust at the Westminster Abbey celebration of 75 years of the NHS.
These were (from left to right) Samuel Imaikop, clinic coordinator, Moorfields at Stratford; Christine Real, matron, Moorfields Duke Elder Eye Unit at St George’s Hospital; and Joyce Amanor, senior staff nurse at Moorfields Eye Centre at Croydon University Hospital.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including prime minister Rishi Sunak, leader of the opposition Sir Kier Starmer and mayor Sadiq Khan.
Christine said: “I thank the NHS for its humility! I have worked in the NHS for 23 years and I am prouder, braver and bolder. I salute and thank the NHS volunteers, researchers, administrators, medics, nurses and allied health professionals for the way they improve people’s lives.”
Samuel added: “Thank you to the NHS for saving lives. Reflecting on the experience at Westminster, it was an exciting experience and I am happy to have witnessed this historic occasion.” Joyce was “Grateful for the NHS’s services to humanity.”
