Miss Kirithika Muthusamy is a consultant ophthalmologist specialising in corneal surgery at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, UK. Her research interests focus on the genotype-phenotype correlations of corneal dystrophies and the need to develop a more defined understanding of disease patterns in order to identify optimal treatment windows for gene-based therapies.

Miss Muthusamy underwent her ophthalmic training on a North London/Moorfields hospital rotation in the UK. She then went on to complete a combined research and clinical fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, UK, before being appointed to the corneal service.

Miss Muthusamy is actively involved in the development of multidisciplinary clinical pathways that enable the delivery of emerging therapeutics. She has a research interest in first-in-human gene therapy trial for Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy. She offers an exciting perspective on evolving future treatment options for patients and new clinical opportunities within this dynamic field of research.
