In some cases, we see patients who had laser vision corrective surgery longer than 10 years ago and now need glasses again – and they often ask can I have surgery again? In most cases the answer is yes, and further treatment is possible, even longer than a decade or two after the initial laser vision. Your surgeon will tell you which procedure is safest, but usually refinement Femto- LASIK or LASEK can be possible. Laser Vision correction is normally an effective one-shot solution, but can be repeated safely in most cases, if necessary, without a time limit on when the repeat treatment can be performed.
Most patients with good distance vision in both eyes will need reading glasses from their mid-forties on. This is a natural age-related change. If this is a problem, further laser treatment to enhance the near range in one eye can be very useful.
A range of options are also offered for effective remedial laser treatment in patients who have persistent problems such as light scatter.
If you have had laser vision correction in the past and you have lost some of the benefit, or have concerns about the results, it is well worth arranging a consultation at Moorfields Private. After seeing your test results, our surgeons can advise as to how we can improve your vision where possible.
